DR. JILL & GARY WOFSEY

Before marrying Gary Wofsey,
my name was Jill Allen.

I play flute, guitar, bass guitar, I sing and I'm a composer. I received my Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado.

My Master's Degree was earned at the University of Minnesota and I got my Bachelorate at Eastman School of Music.

While in school, I was the recipient of a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts that sponsored my performance and teaching in Kansas. I've recorded three CDs which feature me as flutist: “I’m Flying,” “Two Much Fun!” & “Petty Theft.”
One of my greatest teaching experiences was teaching Jazz Improvisation and Musicianship to young flutists at the Colorado Suzuki Institute at Snowmass. I've placed impressively in the Down Beat Magazine Readers Polls several times in recent years. I had a long-standing service as Jazz Committee chairperson of the National Flute Association.

When I first met Gary, at first I played bass guitar for his big band. I can be heard playing bass guitar on Gary's CD "Gary Wofsey In Stereo."

Today, Gary & I are co-leaders of our big band. And, now with our band, I'm featured on guitar, flute and
voice.

Jill has performed and adjudicated on several occasions for the Wichita Jazz Festival. Dr. Allen was a clinician and guest soloist with the Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble. Her own jazz group has performed concerts and clinics for several educational institutions and flute clubs, including the New York Flute Club.
